  1. Out of curiosity, why do you train german shephards when they suffer from hip dysplasia?
I only ask because I lost one due to that and even though they’re cleverer than a malinois imo (which I have now). I’d never want to go through that again.

    1. Kinda like saying, my dad died of a heart attack…humans have bad genetics. Most breeds carry some sort of genetic health problems. All depends on the genetics/bloodline, was your dog from parents with certified hips & elbows? You can research far back in a certain lines health certifications. BEWARE of breeders only saying AKC PURPLE RIBBON Bloodlines. Heart & eyes can also be checked and certified I believe. Even with great bloodlines dogs like people have health issues. Environment also plays a great part in a dogs health(not saying you didn’t take care of your dog) Just nutrition, stress many things play a part. GSDs are an amazing healthy breed just too many idiots out there messing up the breed.

    2. Not all shepherds have his problems. Only the weakly bred ones like show lines…those dogs shouldn’t be allowed to be bred. Humans should have let nature do it’s thing and cull the weak and we wouldn’t have to worry about hip problems.

    3. Kooga5538, did you go to a “real” quality breeder that had his dogs hips certified? Sadly with many breeds, there are more idiots that are clueless breeding than quality breeders out trying to make the breed better. Just because they have a nice webite, kennels and they have trophies is shtuzhund doesn’t mean a thing…good luck with your mali.

    4. Someone beat me replying but yeah….I love the breed and researched them heavily before purchasing one….. make sure you get your dog from someone thats breeding for correct old style form…. not american show dogs….. it falls back on bad uneducated breeders……and show dog breeders…… the hips on both parents need to be xrayed….and dont have your gsd too heavy…. ruins their hips just as any other dog…..sorry about your dog….. enjoy your malinois they’re great

  2. Nanook would be great a working k9. It would be a shame seeing this animal waste his potential else where. Amazing drive and temperament. Not to serious. But serious enough to get to work when need be.
