  1. My professional dog trainer told me the same method you said- let them out every 2 hours and provide treats. And let me tell you, it definitely works! We followed those rules with my puppy, who is now 5 months old, and it only took her three months to get it. One thing you didn’t mention that I found very helpful was putting bells on the door and making her touch them every time she went out, so she can tell me when she needs to go outside. Now she does it on her own and it works wonderfully.♥️

    1. Just wonderful, I’ve been looking for “effective potty training techniques for puppies” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of – Kanenry Sondalyn Genie – (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got excellent success with it.

    2. Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about “help with potty training a puppy” for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried – Kanenry Sondalyn Genie – (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

  2. YES YES YES. Where has this channel been all my life?! Finally someone making videos about humane and science based training. Thank you!!!!

    1. Yes, nothing more frustrating than taking your puppy outside in the garden for an hour of so trying to encourage them to go to the loo and not succeeding then going back inside and the moment they touch the carpet the puppy decides to poo on the carpet 🙁

    2. if they dint potty outside and then they potty when you come inside it means they have now marked the inside space as their potty area which means it is your fault for not correcting that sooner

  3. i love your pup fin so much
it is so cute and charming
    can you give me fin?
because already have 2 or more than
    thank you

  4. I have a rescue dog and she will not go down stairs. My house has a lot of stairs. I believe that she was kicked down the stairs before. It is very hard to have her go to the bathroom outside. I adopted her off the streets too, she was abused. I can see her ribs (I got her yesterday) and I’m scared if I feed her too much she’ll get sick. I know this isn’t related to the video but I don’t know what to do.

    1. Start slow with feeding, and find raw goats milk to add to help put weight on. Since she’s new, take the transition slowly. Keep a calm and stable routine. How’s she doing now?

    2. 😛 I didn’t think you would respond! She is doing well, she is eating a lot more. She is going down the stairs now and I’m happy. And were could you find raw goat milk, and how much is it?

  5. I take my 8 week old pup out on her leash every couple hours, she looks at me sad when she doesnt get to chase the leafs around, should I be letting her run around to play? I feel guilty and don’t want her to hate me. I considered following her around so she can explore more, please advise! Only had her 2 days can probably turn things around for her still so she doesnt hate me 🤣

    1. Try to break up “outside” time into two diff times. One for potty only, and one for play. And as soon as puppy potties, they can play as a reward!

  6. My puppy is great during the day and goes potty outside every couple of hours, but in the middle of the night she poos all over the place around 8 times! I feed her at certain times so that she shouldn’t have to go poo during the night but it’s not working 😩 any advice? She is 7weeks old

  7. I’m getting a puppy (~9 weeks old) and I have about 5 days to spend with the puppy before I go back for a 9-5/40hr work week. Someone’s coming in during the lunch time to let the puppy out and play with him while im gone but only for the next 2 months. I want to eventually train him to use the bells we’ve put on the door to let us know he wants to go out to potty but i’m not sure if that with my schedule, there’d be enough of a consistent routine for him to pick up. Any tips or recommendations on potty training in this case? When he has to stay inside for longer periods of time with no one to let him out? Considering a grass pad to use inside the house then switching it to outside as he gets older.

    1. i’d suggest using puppy pads in playpen or in a puppy proof area where you don’t mind for accidents to happen. That way if he is left alone for long periods of time and needs to relieve himself, he can do so on a designated area in the house. you would have to teach him to go on puppy pads of course, but same rules apply as teaching them to go outside. This means using lots of praise when they go appropriately on a puppy pad and keeping the pads in the same area. A grass pad would function the same as well. just make sure it is secure and a puppy pad is underneath it.

  8. How long should you wait outside each 1-2 hours? I’m assuming there will be hours where they don’t go…. but maybe I’m wrong!

    1. Katie Kovalchik When you first begin, Ive heard that its good to give about 10-15 mins (since they dont know what you want at first), then begin to shorten it to no less than 3 mins, that way they will begin to understand that you want them to potty as soon as they go out, the important thing here is if they dont go, keep a close eye on them when you bring them back in to avoid mistakes, then try again in about 10-15mins, when you take them back out, they will go right away, realizing that if they dont potty now they will have to go inside and hold it longer, I potty trained my puppy in about 3 weeks, (not fully but he started catching on and scratching at the door when he needed to go out).

    2. TeamOctavia thank you!! I brought my pup home yesterday and we’ve taken her out every hour or so (or when she wakes up from a nap) and we’ve had no accidents (yet!) in the apartment… I appreciate your feedback!

  9. I take my pup out every 2 hours. She still goes in the house and she doesn’t know how to ask to go outside

  10. My husky is 10 weeks old. I take him out to potty. He does both (pee and poop) outside and gets a treat. After i bring him inside, he pees 15 min later. What am I doing wrong? 😭

    1. darealdiva18 some dogs need to go out every 30mins to start. It takes time. Consistency is key – so keep taking him out regularly. 10 week old puppies have VERY small bladders. So they can’t hold it for long. Stay pawsitive!! You got this!!
